Rosenbauer 1000/1500 Custom Top Mount “Enclosed” Pumper

 SAVANNAH RIVER SITE – The Savannah River Site, a Department of Energy facility, near Aiken, South Carolina decided to upgrade their aging fleet with two (2) Rosenbauer Custom Pumpers.  The units come with Spartan Gladiator MFD cabs each with a 20″ raised roof and a 500 hp Cummins ISX 2010 EPA compliant engine combined with an Allison 4000 EVS automatic transmission.  The units also have aluminum Alcoa wheels with a Dura-Bright finish,  an excellent braking system with ABS/ATC(Automatic Traction Control)/ESC(Electronic Stability Control), and an extreme duty interior.

There are cutting edge features all over this apparatus.  The specifications required that the top mount pump panel be enclosed with the cab.  On these apparatus all chassis and pump operations can be conducted from inside the climate controlled cab.  The monitor controls are in the cab also; this is made possible by C. W. Williams installing the TFT Hurricane Monitor with wireless remote control.  The Savannah River Site has stringent rules and regulations that their fire department and maintenence department must follow and obey.  In order to make life easier for the maintenence department we installed battery quick connect jump plugs instead of the traditional jumper studs, and Rosenbauer installed the Rosenbauer EZ Foam System.  The directions for the foam system operation and flushing are printed clearly on the pump panel, and the best part of all:  the foam system is completely mechanical, it has no electrical components at all…this fits the wishes of the maintence department.  The pumps are Hale QMAX rated 1500 gpm, and the body has unsurpassed 28″ deep full depth compartments.  It is equipped with a Whelen Super LED light package, a Firecom wireless intercom system, and an 8kw Harrison generator.
